Rhodes

The most reliable all-rounder. Large resort areas on the north-west and east coasts, an Old Town worth a full day and Lindos on a day trip. Sea is warmest and the season longest. Read more in our Rhodes island guide and Rhodes vs Crete. Compare Rhodes hotels and resorts or find Rhodes tours.

Crete

Maximum choice and the strongest sightseeing alongside the beach, including Knossos, Samaria and Elafonisi. Because the island is long, base yourself near Chania for the west or Hersonissos to Rethymno for the central north coast. See our Crete guide and Corfu vs Crete. Compare Crete hotels and resorts or find Crete tours.

Corfu

Greener, more varied and a little pricier. Fewer budget all-inclusives, more upper-midrange and luxury. The Ikos group has properties here; see our Ikos Resorts Greece review. More in Corfu and Corfu vs Zakynthos. Compare Corfu hotels and resorts or find Corfu tours.

Kos

Flat and compact, with warm shallow water and long beaches. Good for cyclists and young children. The island also hosts Club Med; see the Club Med Greece review and Kos island guide. Compare Kos hotels and resorts or find Kos tours.

Zakynthos

Famous for Navagio Beach and boat trips. All-inclusive stock is smaller and concentrated near Laganas, Tsilivi and Alykes. See Zakynthos and where to stay in Zakynthos. Compare Zakynthos hotels and resorts or find Zakynthos tours.

Halkidiki

The mainland choice, and the one you can reach by road from Thessaloniki. Sani Resort is the flagship, with several hotels on one estate. See Halkidiki. Compare Halkidiki hotels and resorts or find Halkidiki tours.

How to choose

  1. Length of season. For April or October travel, choose Rhodes or Crete.
  2. Sightseeing appetite. Crete and Rhodes win; Zakynthos and Kos are more beach-centred.
  3. Transfer tolerance. With small children, pick Kos, Rhodes or Corfu for short transfers.
  4. Budget. Rhodes and Crete are typically cheapest; Corfu and Halkidiki cost more.
  5. Style. Choose Corfu or Halkidiki for greenery, Rhodes and Kos for flat, sunny beach holidays.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which Greek island has the most all-inclusive hotels?
Crete has the largest overall capacity, followed by Rhodes. Both have all-inclusive hotels at every price level, which keeps rates competitive. Kos, Corfu and Zakynthos have fewer but still enough to choose from, and the mainland offers Halkidiki.
Rhodes or Crete for all inclusive?
Rhodes is more compact: most resorts are within an hour of the airport and the Old Town is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Crete is bigger, so transfers can be 60-90 minutes and you should choose one region. Crete has more sightseeing variety, Rhodes a slightly easier logistics.
What is the cheapest Greek island for all inclusive?
Rhodes and Crete are generally the cheapest, because competition among resorts is strong and charter flights are frequent. Corfu and Halkidiki cost more on average, and ultra all-inclusive properties anywhere cost the most. Shoulder months of May, June and September are the best value.
Can I do all inclusive in the Cyclades?
Rarely. Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and Paros are dominated by boutique and bed-and-breakfast stays, and true all-inclusive packages are uncommon. For all-inclusive, choose Rhodes, Crete, Kos, Corfu, Zakynthos or Halkidiki.
