Greece is on track for record international arrivals in 2026 and industry forecasters now expect the trajectory to continue into the 2027 travel season, according to data published this week by the Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) and reported by Euronews.
The projections come as Greece enters the final weeks of its peak summer season. Hotel occupancy across mainland and island destinations has run consistently ahead of 2025 levels throughout the summer, while forward booking data from European tour operators shows 2027 summer packages for Greece selling well above the equivalent point last year.
What the numbers show
Greece welcomed 33 million international visitors in 2025. The 2026 total is expected to exceed that figure when the full-year count is completed. Tourism receipts for the first half of 2026 reached a record high, driven by increases from UK, German, French, and Gulf-state markets. US visitor numbers are also up significantly year-on-year, a trend that began after major US carriers launched or expanded direct transatlantic routes into Athens and Thessaloniki.
