Best Beaches in Paros: Sandy Coves, Wind Spots, and Rocky Bays
Paros has a varied coastline — calm, sheltered bays on the west and south, windier more exposed beaches on the east, and the distinctive granite-sculpted shoreline near Naoussa on the north. Most beaches have good facilities in season. Prices listed here are approximate as of 2026.
Kolymbithres
Kolymbithres, north-east of Naoussa, is the most visually striking beach on Paros. The shoreline is broken by large smooth granite boulders worn into rounded forms by centuries of wave action — the rocks create natural pools, shaded coves, and a landscape unlike anything else in the Cyclades.
The beach divides into several small sections between the rocks, each with its own character — some with sunbeds, some without. Water is clear and calm. The largest section has a beach bar and sunbed rental (approximately €12–15 per set).
Getting there by boat from Naoussa is the best option (approximately €5 return, boats run regularly from the harbour). By road, a track leads to a car park with a short walk to the beach.
Santa Maria
Santa Maria is on the north coast, east of Naoussa — a wide, sheltered bay with fine sand and very shallow, calm water. It is the best family beach on Paros and also has a water sports centre.
Sunbeds available (approximately €10–15 per set). Several beach tavernas and a kite surfing school operate in season. The water remains shallow for a long distance from shore, making it safe for children. Gets busy in July and August but has enough space to absorb the numbers.
Reachable by road from Naoussa (approximately 4km) or by the local bus service.
Golden Beach (Chryssi Akti)
Golden Beach is on the east coast and is Paros’s world-famous wind sports beach — a long sweep of fine sand with consistent Meltemi winds making it ideal for windsurfing and kite surfing. The beach itself is excellent regardless of wind sports interest: wide, sandy, with good facilities.
Sunbeds available (approximately €10–15). Beach bars and tavernas line the back of the beach. Windsurfing and kite surfing schools operate directly on the beach (introductory lessons approximately €60–80 as of 2026; rental from approximately €40 per half-day).
For non-wind-sport visitors, the northern end of Golden Beach (toward Drios) is calmer and less dominated by equipment. Summer afternoons bring the strongest winds; mornings are calmer.
Logaras
Logaras is immediately south of Golden Beach and connected to it — the two beaches share a continuous stretch of sand but Logaras is quieter and less organised. A village is directly behind the beach with several tavernas.
Better for those who want to swim without wind equipment around them. The water is still exposed to the Meltemi but the waves are manageable for confident swimmers. Facilities are limited — a couple of tavernas, some sunbeds, but no water sports schools.
Aliki
Aliki is in the south of the island, on a sheltered bay that faces east. The village of Aliki behind the beach has a fishing harbour and several good seafood restaurants. The water is calm and clear, the beach is sandy, and the atmosphere is noticeably more relaxed than the north coast.
This is one of the best beaches on Paros for a day without the crowds of the main tourist circuit. Sunbeds available (approximately €10–15). The Aliki waterfront has good fish restaurants at reasonable prices compared to Naoussa — roughly €15–25 for a main seafood dish.
Accessible by car (approximately 12km from Parikia) or taxi (approximately €18–22 as of 2026).
Faragas
Faragas is a small beach on the south coast, accessible down a narrow road from the village of Agios Giorgios Antiparos. The beach is a mix of sand and pebble with very clear water and a small beach bar in season.
Quieter than the main tourist beaches and popular with Paros residents seeking a calmer spot. No facilities beyond the bar. Road access is easy but the car park is small — arrive before 10am in August.
Parasporos
Parasporos is just south of Parikia — convenient for the main town but with a more local character than the resort beaches. A gentle bay with shallow water, sunbeds, and a taverna. Useful if you are based in Parikia and want a quick beach without travelling far.
Getting Around the Beaches
The KTEL bus connects Parikia to Naoussa, Lefkes, and Golden Beach with reasonable frequency in summer (fares approximately €1.80–2.50). For Kolymbithres, boats from Naoussa are most practical. For Aliki, Faragas, and south coast spots, a hire car or scooter is necessary (approximately €35–55 per day for a car, approximately €20–30 for a scooter as of 2026).
