The Street Mode Festival returns to Thessaloniki this weekend, running 12–13 September 2026 at the Old Municipal Slaughterhouse (Παλαιό Δημοτικό Σφαγείο, also known as the Labattoir). Now in its 14th edition, Street Mode is Greece’s longest-running urban culture festival, combining live music with graffiti, breakdance, parkour and BMX competitions and demonstrations.

This Year’s Lineup

Confirmed performers include Dub Inc, the Algerian-French reggae and world music group; Kotes; Omichli; and 63 High. The mix reflects the festival’s consistent positioning across hip-hop, reggae, electronic and alternative genres - street music in the broadest sense.

Graffiti artists will be working live across the festival grounds throughout both days, and the BMX and parkour programme runs alongside the main stage. The combination of spectator and participatory formats gives the event a different energy from a standard concert lineup.

About the Venue

The Old Municipal Slaughterhouse is one of Thessaloniki’s better adaptive reuse projects - a late-19th-century industrial complex that has been converted into an events and cultural space. It sits in the western part of the city, roughly 3km from the White Tower waterfront. Getting there from the city centre is straightforward by taxi or the local OASTH bus network.

Planning a Thessaloniki Visit Around the Festival

Thessaloniki in September is one of the better times to visit the city: the summer tourist peak has eased, temperatures have dropped to a more comfortable 25–28°C, and the city’s cultural calendar picks up after August. The Street Mode weekend sits neatly in that window.

If you’re in the city for the festival and want to extend your stay, our Thessaloniki city guide covers the main neighbourhoods, day trips and what the city does well beyond events. The Ladadika district is the centre of Thessaloniki’s nightlife; the Valaoritou area hosts the city’s more independent bars and venues. The things to do in Greece section includes options across the country if you’re building a wider itinerary, or browse tours in Thessaloniki for guided walks through the Byzantine quarter, the Ladadika district, and the city’s street art scene.

For getting to Thessaloniki, the city has direct flights from major European hubs as well as train and bus connections from Athens (about 4–5 hours). Our Greece practical guide covers the transport basics.

Tickets and programme details are on the official festival website. Given the free or low-cost admission typical for Street Mode in previous years, it’s worth checking the current edition’s pricing directly - the festival has historically been accessible to walk-in visitors for much of its daytime programme.
