Sifnos has more accommodation depth than most comparable Cycladic islands β a mix of traditional village rooms, design-conscious boutique hotels, and one standout luxury resort. The island is also well regarded for its food, which means mid-range hotels with good restaurant access get booked quickly. All prices below are approximate peak-season rates as of 2026; shoulder season typically runs 25β35% lower.
Apollonia and Artemonas
Apollonia is the capital and the natural base for most visitors. The pedestrianised village centre has the islandβs best concentration of restaurants, cafΓ©s, and shops, and the bus network radiates out from here. Artemonas sits just north of Apollonia β almost continuous with it β and is somewhat quieter, with elegant neoclassical houses and good views toward the coast.
Verina Astra β One of the islandβs best-known boutique properties, on the ridgeline above Artemonas. Twelve suites with panoramic sea views, a pool terrace, and attentive service. Architecture and design are distinctly Cycladic without being clichΓ©d. From approximately β¬250 per night for a suite in peak season. Breakfast included.
Verina Terra β The sister property in Artemonas village itself, with a more relaxed village feel and a different aesthetic. From approximately β¬180 per night in peak season.
Petali Village Hotel β A cluster of traditionally styled studios and apartments just outside Apollonia, with a pool and sea views. Family-friendly and good value at mid-range. From approximately β¬130 per night in peak season.
Studios Sophia β Simple, well-maintained studios in Apollonia within walking distance of the centre. Reliable budget-friendly option. From approximately β¬65β80 per night in peak season.
Kamares (Port)
Kamares is where the ferries arrive and where the islandβs main beach sits. Itβs functional and friendly rather than picturesque, but the beach is decent and the tavernas are good. Useful if you have an early or late boat, or if you want to avoid the bus.
Hotel Boulis β Right in the port village, clean and comfortable rooms with sea-facing balconies. Family-run, consistently well-reviewed. From approximately β¬90 per night in peak season.
Makis Studios β Simple waterfront studios directly above the port. Good value for the location. From approximately β¬60β75 per night in peak season.
Platys Gialos
The longest beach on the island, on the south coast. A proper beach village with tavernas, sunbeds, and a handful of hotels clustered around the bay. Best for visitors who want to spend serious time on the beach rather than exploring inland.
Platys Gialos Hotel β The main hotel on the bay, directly on the beach. Comfortable rooms, a pool, and direct beach access. From approximately β¬120 per night in peak season.
Margarita Apartments β Studios and apartments a short walk above the beach. Good sea views, well-equipped kitchenettes. From approximately β¬80β100 per night in peak season.
Vathi
A deep, sheltered bay on the west coast β one of the most beautiful spots on Sifnos. Thereβs almost no infrastructure here beyond the resort and one or two tavernas, which is precisely the point. Getting here requires a taxi or a long walk; there is no regular bus service.
Elies Resorts β The islandβs flagship luxury property. Nineteen stone-and-whitewash villas and suites dotted around the hillside above the bay, with a large infinity pool, two restaurants, and spa facilities. Service standards are notably high. From approximately β¬350 per night for a villa in peak season; suites and larger units considerably higher. Book on Booking.com
Kastro
The medieval hilltop village above the east coast. Walking into Kastro feels like stepping back several centuries β narrow car-free lanes, medieval ramparts, Byzantine churches. Accommodation here is genuinely limited: a handful of rooms-to-rent and studios inside old stone houses. If you can get a room in Kastro, the atmosphere is unique.
Rooms in Kastro β Typically family-run, basic by modern standards, with character in abundance. From approximately β¬70β90 per night in peak season. Book directly β most donβt list online.
