Folegandros has a small, contained accommodation scene that reflects the island’s character: intimate, mostly family-run, and not particularly flashy. There are no large hotels and no all-inclusive resorts. What you find instead is a range of small guesthouses, studios, and boutique properties - mostly in Chora and along the clifftop, with a smaller cluster at the port settlement of Karavostasi.
The total number of beds on the island is genuinely limited, which means peak-season availability is tight. Booking 2–3 months ahead for July and August is not excessive - the best-known properties sell out quickly. Prices listed are approximate peak-season rates as of 2026; shoulder season (May–June and September) typically runs 25–35% lower.
Staying in Chora
Most visitors choose Chora as their base, and it makes sense. The main village is where the restaurants, cafés, and social life are concentrated; the Panagia walk and the Kastro are right on your doorstep; and the bus to the port and Ano Meria leaves from the village edge. The only downside is that you’re 300 metres above the sea - a bus ride or walk from the beaches.
Anemomilos Apartments - The most photographed property on the island. A cluster of whitewashed apartments and suites on the cliff edge north of Chora, with some of the best sea views in the Cyclades. Traditional Cycladic architecture, excellent attention to detail, and a terrace that’s perfect for sunset. From approximately €160 per night for a double in peak season. Book very early.
Chora Resort - Slightly removed from the village centre, a small hotel with a pool and rooms with balconies. More polished than most Folegandros options. Doubles from approximately €170 per night in peak season; pool suites higher.
Odysseas Hotel - In the heart of Chora, simple and clean rooms with traditional decor. Well-located for the plateia and restaurants. From approximately €90 per night in peak season. Good value by Cycladic standards.
Fani-Vevis Studios - A family-run studio operation in Chora with simply furnished rooms, some with small balconies. Reliable, well-maintained, and one of the more affordable options in the village. From approximately €70–80 per night in peak season.
Rooms Evangelos - Basic but honest accommodation in the Kastro area of Chora - old stone walls, small windows, quiet. More character than facilities. From approximately €55–65 per night in peak season.
Staying at Karavostasi
The port is functional rather than pretty - a cluster of tavernas and small hotels around the ferry quay. The beach here is the closest to proper swimming if you don’t want to take the bus up to Chora every morning. Ferries arrive and depart here, which is relevant if you have an unusual arrival or departure time.
Vardia Studios - Family-run studios directly above the port with sea views from the terrace. Clean, simply furnished, breakfast available. From approximately €60–70 per night in peak season.
Camping Livadi - Folegandros’s only campsite, at the beach south of Karavostasi. Basic facilities - tent pitches and a few wooden cabins, shared bathrooms, a simple snack bar. From approximately €12 per person for camping, approximately €35–40 for a cabin. The cheapest option on the island by a significant margin.
Staying at Angali
There are a handful of rooms-to-rent near Angali beach on the west coast. These are for visitors who want to be closest to the beach and don’t mind being a bus or hike from Chora. Limited facilities; best suited to independent travellers who plan to self-cater.
Angali Studios - A handful of basic studios just above the beach. From approximately €65–75 per night in peak season.
Booking Notes
The island has no large hotel chains and very limited presence on mainstream booking platforms. Some of the best smaller properties take direct bookings only - check their own websites or Facebook pages. A few options require a WhatsApp message to confirm. This is part of the charm but it makes comparison shopping harder.
Airbnb has limited listings. Booking.com and Expedia have more options in Chora and Karavostasi. If you’re struggling to find availability in peak season, a travel agency specialising in the Cyclades (several operate from Athens) can sometimes access rooms that aren’t listed online.
What to Expect
Don’t arrive expecting hotel-standard amenities across the board. Air conditioning is standard in most places; WiFi is available but can be slow (mobile signal is better on a data SIM). Pools are rare - only Chora Resort and one or two others have them. Breakfast is not always included; ask when booking.
The accommodation on Folegandros is honest, often charming, and occasionally basic. The island’s appeal is the village, the cliffs, and the sea - not the hotel room. Most visitors spend minimal time in their accommodation.
