The Mykonos Biennale is a month-long contemporary arts festival that runs across the island each summer, using the island’s architecture, beaches, and public spaces as a backdrop for exhibitions, live performances, film screenings, and artist-in-residence programmes. What the biennale covers

The programming spans visual art, video and film, performance, sound installation, and literature. Works are presented in galleries, historic buildings in Mykonos Town (Chora), outdoor sites, and occasionally on the water. Film screenings have been a consistent strand of the biennale, often held outdoors in the evening in Chora or at one of the island’s older venues. Visiting during the biennale

Most biennale venues are within walking distance in Mykonos Town or reachable by the island’s bus service. The main bus hub for Chora is in Fabrika Square, with connections to beaches and the southern part of the island running frequently through July and August. Taxis are available but can be difficult to find at peak hours.

July and August on Mykonos is peak season: accommodation prices are at their highest, and the island is crowded. Book accommodation well in advance if you plan to visit during the biennale period.
